Do You Have An Older Valuable Machine On Your Shop Floor Starting To Need Work? Replace The Components And Do These Things

If you have a machine on your shop floor that you think has some years left to serve the company, but some of the components look like they are rusting and having other problems, it's time to make a change. You can easily update some of the features on the machine to keep it running for a long time, and to help prevent it from having unexpected break downs. Service the machine in the following ways regularly.

Stainless Steel Components

Change out all of the components on the machine to stainless steel. The stainless steel components are resistant to corrosion from moisture and fluids, aren't affected by temperatures, and are durable. Consider changing the following parts:

  • Valves
  • Pipes
  • Fittings
  • Cylinders

If you don't think that you can change all the components on your own, hire a mechanic to do the work so you know your machine is ready to go. This can improve the life of the machine.

Clean Filters

A clogged filter can cause all sorts of problems for your machine. You want to clean the filter regularly, and also have filters ordered and in stock for quick replacements whenever necessary. If you think that the filter is too frequently dirty, then you need to clean out the entire machine with an air compressor.

Cover the Unit Up at Night

A lot of people don't cover up the machines on their shop floor because they figure there isn't much point since the machine is exposed all day long. This is a misconception. When the HVAC units are running and air is flowing the shop, this causes dust and debris to get around and inside the machine. Covering the unit at night is a way to keep the extra dirt and debris out of the unit, and to help keep it running it's best.

It may be time to change all of the fluids in the machine since you are taking it apart to change all the metal components. If you have a very valuable machine on the floor of your shop and you think that you can get more years out of it if you can fix the small repairs that it needs now, order new components and backup parts and get started. This way you don't have to worry about what happens if you have an issue and need to replace a part right away to keep the machine running during the work day.
